1. What did you hope to get from working with Max Marketing when you started out?

Both my Husband and I knew we had to give our Business a kick start, as it was 27 years old.  Neither of us were strong in Marketing.  We felt we were out of our depth and couldn’t take that first step in something we new nothing about.  What we hoped to get was an insight to our Business with a fresh new set of eyes, and a strategy of steps to take us to increase our turnover 35%.

2. What has been the biggest contribution working with MaxMarketing has made/will make to your business so far?

At the very first meeting With Max Marketing we were offered to apply to the “NZTE Accelerated Success Program” This enabled us to get a grant for 5K of Business Capability vouchers.  We were reticent to go ahead with a Marketing company years ago, because of cost.  It was the only thing holding us back for years.  Now with the additional grant of 5K, the whole process is no longer scary.  This contribution has enabled us to go full steam ahead with this project, with absolutely nothing holding us back.  It feel great.

3. How do you think having marketing support help your business generally?

Having the marketing support has made the whole picture so clear for us.  We now have steps to take, and a collective force of great minds looking, analyzing our business and incorporating  technology  (that we didn’t know how to use) and making that technology give us 100% accurate answers.

4. What have you learned from working the Max Marketing that has been useful in your journey to date?

I have had my whole awareness in Marketing changed completely.  It has changed everything we do.  How we look at our new customer, how we view our repeat customer and how we are storing the information our clients are giving us.  I am now spending more time on reports about which client has spent over “X” dollars, between certain time frames and only now, I know what steps to take with this information.

5. What do you think the principles and recommendations made by Max Marketing will do for your business in the future?

It can only take it one way, and that is  “UP”  Increased sales and happy clients.

6. What kind of business/people do you think would benefit from working with Max Marketing?

Any business that has a data base and is doing nothing with it.  I’d say that is pretty much most businesses.

7. What would you suggest to someone thinking of undertaking a marketing programme with Max Marketing and how they could get the best out of working with us?

The first step is picking up the phone and booking the first meeting.  You have nothing to loose, only to gain.  Without Marketing, you have no business.  It is the perfect opportunity to really look at your business from the outside, looking in.

It’s been brilliant, refreshing, and I can’t wait to see where our Business with be in 3 months from now!

Initially, we hoped Max Marketing would assist us with understanding our customer is an ever-changing market. What we didn’t anticipate was Max Marketing would revolutionise the focus of our business by introducing us to consumer-centric research empowering our decisions.

2. What has been the biggest contribution working with MaxMarketing has made to your business?

In business many decisions are made around a board room table based on the agreement of directors. Max Marketing gave us greater knowledge of our own customer, enabling our business decisions to be what our customer wanted – not what we felt.

Max Marketing altered the direction of our company by bringing us information that counted. The team provided us with relevant research and then targeted marketing tools within a budget that our management team could work with.

Since working with Max Marketing, our Senior Management Team are now clearly working with a sound marketing framework for growth. Our business is no longer about departments, but about gaining greater information about our customer and working within the strategic plan that Max Marketing produced in collaboration with all staff.

Any business owner would benefit from working with the team at Max Marketing. Too often business owners expect their customer to stay the same and opportunities pass them by. Max Marketing bring current research and insight to any team and add value immediately to all areas of your business.

6. How would someone thinking of undertaking a marketing programme and how they could get the best out of working with Max Marketing?

To get the best from Max Marketing it’s essential to be open to an alternative vision. We loved the team at Max for not repeating what we already knew, but challenging us on how we could entice more from our current customer and entice customers we weren’t currently attracting.

7. Overall, can you sum-up your experience working with Max Marketing?

Any Managing Director or General Manager is always looking for industry leaders to give them advice. Having working with small and large agencies, we will never leave the team at Max Marketing. They have worked closely with us, continually challenged us and most importantly, been a fantastic return on our investment.

1. What did you hope to get from working with Max Marketing when you started out?

Had never been through the proper brand process, and so wanted to do this and have a clear direction for the company, determine what our USP and positioning was in the market in order to be able to drive the company forward. Also wanted to improve the look of the brand and company as a whole to be a lot more professional, and develop marketing strategies for the future.

2. What has been the biggest contribution working with MaxMarketing has made to your business?

Is hard to give one that stands out as there have been many! One thing aside from the core skills within Max itself was the connections to other key consultants and suppliers in the market. It is easy to underestimate how many different experts need to be involved in a brand launch – graphic designers, search engine optimisation consultants, copy writers, web designers, photographers to name a few. Max had connections to the best in the industry and it was comforting to know that each part of the project was in good hands.

3. How has having  marketing support helped your business generally?

Marketing is key to growing a business. Previous to Max being involved it was largely looked after in house with sporadic advertising and no clear direction. Having now had that support it is clear how important it is to have the right advice and experts involved. We now have a clear identity and brand positioning, a professional brand, great website that is fully optimised for search engines, lots of relevant collateral, and a clear strategy for moving forward. And aside from that support providing results that we would never have been able to achieve on our own it has also meant valuable time that was previously being spent on marketing has been able to be redirected to other areas of the business, where our own skills are better utilised.

4. What have you learned from working the Max Marketing that has been useful in your journey to date?

The value of interviewing past clients to understand their experience of the company, from first impressions and brand perception, to overall experience. This give a client viewpoint of the company which is very helpful in understanding external perception, as opposed to your own thinking of what that perception is.

5. What do you think the principles and recommendations made by Max Marketing will do for your business in the future?

There was one fundamental change recommended that has split the brand into two distinct paths. This will enable us to target two very specific areas of the market, each with their own very different needs and motivations, meaning our messaging can be better tailored and directed to these different groups. There is no doubt this will enable the business to grow faster than it might otherwise.

6. Who do you think would benefit from working with Max Marketing?

Any business big or small but particularly a growing business that has never been through the proper branding process. It is easy to think that a logo and a few advertisements done by a graphic designer is enough but there is a lot more to it.

7. What would you say to someone thinking of undertaking a marketing programme and how they could get the best out of working with Max Marketing?

Be open minded to their ideas. Its natural to be set in your own ways of thinking and that thinking could have been ingrained over many years, but there are almost certainly better ways to be doing things. Question ideas until you understand them but once you are satisfied back them 100% to let them give you the best results they can.

8. Overall, can you sum-up your experience working with Max Marketing?

Max very much exceeded expectations. There was obvious competency from the start, and that translated throughout the project into value being added to the business in many ways. Ideas and recommendation were not just limited to marketing, there was a clear passion for our business and interest in seeing it succeed. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Initially I thought all I needed was some help to plan my marketing strategy for the 12 months as I often didn’t have time to plan and reacting to current situations.

Max Marketing got to know my business, my customers and my goal. They were therefore able to help me create a strategy for my business in the short, medium and long-term. This also allowed me to get to know my business better and have a clearer direction of what I want the business to look like and where I want to be.

Trying to do everything by myself meant I wasn’t getting anywhere or saving money. Getting someone else to look at the Marketing area of the business allowed me to concentrate on other areas. Also had a peace of mind that an important task I had been planning to achieve was finally getting done.

Working with Max Marketing has shown me that even as a small business, having a strategy and plan in place is important. Max Marketing has helped me to clearly define what my business is, who my customers are and most important is why I am doing what I do. This sounds simple but when you are deeply involved in something, it can be difficult to focus outside that area.

5. What do you think the principles and recommendations made by Max Marketing will do for your business in the future?

The principles and recommendations made has helped to increase sales, changed the way I provide my services to clients and already will see me making a saving of $20,000p.a in just one area of the business.

6. Who do you think would benefit from working with Max Marketing?

Any business or individual who is serious about growing and see their business succeed would benefit from working with Max Marketing. I’ve worked with large corporates and believe they would have benefited from working with Max Marketing. They continuously think about their customers and follow through. I’ve seen other marketing companies produce a plan without showing the organisation how to implement.

7. What would you say to someone thinking of undertaking a marketing programme and how they could get the best out of working with Max Marketing?

My advice is to make that initial phone call and talk to Max Marketing who will provide them with an honest and professional service. It doesn’t matter what size their business is or how long they’ve been in business, It’s not too late to let Max Marketing help them take their business from “Good” to “Great”

Max Marketing provided me with a professional service that was beyond my expectation. They delivered what they promised and even more. They truly understood the meaning of Customer Service and I am confident that I will continue to use and recommend the services of Max Marketing.

1. What did you hope to get from working with Max Marketing when you started out?

A fresh perspective! This was the biggest thing I felt our marketing and fundraising needed. Often you get so bogged down getting your massive ‘to do’ list completed, you simply can’t see the wood for the trees. I also had a huge challenge in developing new telefundraising strategies, which included packaging the support services we provide for people with disabilities, into something people wanted to financially support. This is a huge challenge, as the not for profit sector, is the most competitive industry I have ever worked in, there are so many worthy causes out there asking for the same dollar!

2. How could charities and SMEs benefit from a marketing mentor?

Often working for small organisations you are the sole person in charge of marketing, from start to finish, but those that have worked as part of a bigger marketing team in large organisations, there is a huge benefit in brainstorming. Generating ideas and sounding your strategies and concepts off others with the expertise, can strengthen your plans hugely. I think all organisations should invest in mentorship, both to benefit the business and the development of their staff. If you can’t afford a full time marketer as part of your permanent staff then this is a great option to get the marketing support you need, when you need it.

3. How has having  marketing support helped your business generally?

It helped to breathe new life into my work and it was amazing how having someone with the expertise working alongside me, helped to pick out things I had missed or concepts that worked but I had moved away from. It really helped to revitalise our programmes.

4. What was the most useful aspect of working with your MaxMentor?

No matter what experience you have in marketing, it’s the kind of work that continues to evolve and change, there is always something new you can learn and having a one on one mentor meant I could continue to grow the work I was putting out and help make it the best it can be.

Invest in this resource, there is nothing like having an experienced strategic marketing working alongside you to build your business. It’s something that every business should factor into their annual plan. Professional considered marketing strategies implemented well, is a vital part of any successful business or organisation.

Before you even begin, ask yourself and your business some important questions. Figure out exactly what you need help with and what you are trying to achieve. What’s holding your business back? From there set yourself clear goals for your marketing and work on them step by step.
