A dedicated marketing professional, Melanie’s experience extends from financial services to retail to health promotion, with a focus on direct, lifecycle and loyalty marketing. Most recently, Melanie has spent two years with Air New Zealand, providing marketing intelligence and implementation of communication strategies for the Airpoints programme, using market research and analytical to scope, design, assess and successfully launch major new product initiatives within this major airline loyalty programme.
Financial services is a key pillar of Melanie’s expertise, following a role with ANZ Bank over 5 years which saw the development of direct marketing within the bank from ‘advertising by mail’, to a fully fledged highly specialised team of relationship marketers, overseeing a range of lifecyle CRM programmes that generated enormous revenues for a fraction of the cost of traditional above the line media.
Melanie is also a qualified nutritionist, and enjoyed a period of time leading marketing initiatives within the NZ Heart Foundation. The brand review and resulting communications approach were so successful for this area that the advertising concept is continuing to run nearly three years later.
Melanie’s clientside roles are supported by a number of roles within marketing agencies – both here in NZ, and in the UK, working on such leading brands and loyalty programmes as Ford Motor Company’s b2b engagement strategy, the commercialisation of Tesco Clubcard to its retail partners, and Shell SmartCard.
