Above The Line & Offline Advertising
ATL Advertising (above the line) originates from an accounting term where costs come off the balance sheet either as a cost before revenue (such as mass media advertising) or after revenue or below the line (such as discounts, point of sale promotions etc). It’s now evolved to reference mass media such as TV, Radio, Press or Magazines, Outdoor Signage, and cinema. It can also be called Traditional Media or Traditional Advertising.
Why you need it
Many businesses incorrectly assume that it is more expensive to be on TV or Radio than to reach audiences through email or social media. However, despite the higher production costs of traditional media, TV and radio in particular remain very cost effective ways to reach large numbers of people and to promote your business. For example, a TV ad slot might cost less than $5 for 15 seconds and reach 10,000 people, vs a letter which might cost $3.50 incl postage or a social media post which may cost $5 but only reach 5 people.
What we do
We can help review all your marketing communication channels and determine if there is a better or faster way to connect with your audience. If appropriate, we can hook you up with local press, recommend the best sites to advertise outdoors, or help you to produce a video for TV commercial or YouTube or write a script for a radio ad. Plus we can help you to book the media and show you how to measure results.
How much does a marketing plan cost?
You probably need a minimum budget of at least $1000 per month, and up to $10k per month for a launch of a new product or service. Radio is much less, and signage production costs have come down massively in recent years.
