Project Island Song is a community project in the Bay of islands between a group called “Guardians of the Bay of Islands”, Te Rawhiti hapu and The Department of Conservation. Having achieved the goal of being pest mammal free in 2009, the group’s vision is to restore birdsong back to the Ipipiri note by note. The group’s governers realised that in order to protect and preserve the pest-free status of the islands, that the ambitious task of bringing this vision to the mainland was the next stage. We worked with Richard and his team to develop a campaign message and tactical plan, that luanched with an inspirational video of the Ipipipiri and the vision for the project. The name “Te tangi o Te Ata” was gifted to the project by the hapu and means “bringing back the dawn chorus”. We helped to connect the key stakeholders. community and project leaders by setting this vision for the extension of the Project Island Song’s original vision. We worked with our video partner, Up and Up to take some sensational footage of the incredible work that had been done by the Project, and to lay the foundations for the start of the new project with Te tangi o te ata with a brand and communications plan. During COVID we then helped the project to send a refreshed message with an exceptional video called “The Great Return”
